In the lead up to the Frankfurt Motor Show Mercedes-Benz has so far kept quiet when it comes to big-ticket concepts, but now just days before Frankfurt gets into full swing, a shadowy teaser of a new concept has emerged.
Called the Concept IAA, which stands for Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile, but also a subtle play on words for the Frankfurt show’s official Internationale Automobil Ausstellung title.
Missing from the name is the ‘Vision’ moniker that Mercedes-Benz usually attaches to show cars destined for production. That means that this car is one that will be relegated to show stands, not showrooms.
While the CLS four-door coupe is due to be replaced soon, it's less likely this is the shape it will adopt.
Although the first images are vague, we can see a low-roofed four-door silhouette with bulging rear guards and a twin-dome rear window that terminates in a kamm tail-style rear end.
