2023 Mercedes-AMG A45 S, CLA45 S, G63 Edition 55 priced for Australia

Three limited-run 'Edition 55' versions of the 2023 Mercedes-AMG A45 S hot hatch, Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S performance sedan and Mercedes-AMG G63 off-roader are due to open for orders next week.

The special editions add an assortment of exterior and interior trim elements to celebrate 55 years since AMG's founding as an independent company building engines and soon after preparing Mercedes-Benz cars for motor racing.

AMG's 55th celebration actually occurred in 2022, but it's only now that this special edition has arrived in Australia. While it may seem an odd number to celebrate, consider that last year BMW was making a big deal out of the 50th birthday of its M division.

Prices for the Edition 55 models range from $8900 to $29,900 above the base price of each vehicle.

Available to order on Tuesday 7 February, the G63 Edition 55 costs $29,900 on top of the base vehicle price.

New orders for the standard Mercedes-AMG G63 have been closed for more than 12 months, which remains the case. The G63 Edition 55 models are all pre-specified vehicles that will become available to order separately, in limited numbers.

It includes the Night Package and Night Package II – which add gloss black finishes for the front splitter, air intake trims and side sill panels, and black chrome tailpipes and grille louvres – plus heat-insulating tinted glass, unique black badging, matte carbon-fibre accents, and 22-inch wheels.

Inside, the G63 Edition 55 gains a Dinamica microfibre-trimmed AMG Performance sports steering wheel with unique badging, and red and black nappa leather seat upholstery.

Priced from an extra $8900, the Edition 55 versions of the Mercedes-AMG A45 S hot hatch and CLA45 S sedan open for orders on Tuesday 7 February and Friday 10 February respectively.

They add an AMG Aerodynamics Package with a larger front splitter, front aero 'flics', taller rear wing, rear bumper air deflectors, and a tweaked rear diffuser, all in gloss black.

The Edition 55 package for both cars also includes the Night Package II – with black badges – plus a choice between Cosmos Black Metallic and Digital White Metallic paint, 'Edition' exterior decals, and matte grey 19-inch alloys.

Inside, the cars pick up red and black AMG Performance front seats, a Dinamica microfibre AMG Performance steering wheel with Edition 55 badging, AMG door sills with red illumination, Edition 55-embroidered AMG floor mats, dark brushed aluminium inlays, and black and red interior accents.

The Edition 55 also consists of AMG Performance Sound – which plays simulated "sporty" or "motorsport" driving sounds through the car's speakers – and a customised AMG indoor car cover for each vehicle.
