McLaren CEO resigns, no replacement announced
No reason was given for the resignation, and the struggling manufacturer is yet to appoint a replacement.
McLaren boss Mike Flewitt has confirmed he will soon stand down after eight years in the role, leaving the struggling British supercar maker without a CEO.
A reason for the departure was not given, and a successor is yet to be named. Drive has contacted McLaren in Australia for further information, however is yet to receive a response.
Mr Flewitt joined McLaren as the company's Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2012, and 12 months later was promoted to the top job. During his tenure the brand launched multiple significant models including the Senna, Elva, and recent hybrid V6 Artura.
“I feel incredibly proud to have led McLaren Automotive through most of its first, highly-successful decade and am privileged to have played a part in the incredible McLaren story," Flewitt said in an official media statement.
“This young company’s success is testament to the many passionate and talented people I have had the pleasure of working with and I look forward to seeing that success continue.”
A statement from McLaren said: "An executive search has begun to identify Mike’s successor. In the meantime, McLaren Group non-executive director Michael Macht will assume responsibility for all technical and operational functions while sales, marketing and PR will report into Paul Walsh."
