Jaguar Land Rover partners with tech giant Nvidia for future connected cars
Future generations of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles will use technology from US computing giant Nvidia, spanning in-car software to semi-autonomous driving functions.
Jaguar Land Rover has announced a multi-year partnership with US technology giant Nvidia – known for everything from computer graphics cards and hardware to artificial intelligence (AI) technology – for the next generation of semi-autonomous, highly-connected cars.
All newly-introduced Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles from 2025 onwards will employ a new 'Nvidia DriveTM' software platform, which will power an array of systems including active safety features, semi-autonomous driving systems, "driver monitoring", and "advanced visualisation of the vehicle’s environment".
The Nvidia DriveTM system will be backed by 'Drive OrinTM' processors – which will run a new Jaguar Land Rover Operating System – paired with 'Drive AV' and 'Drive IX' software systems, and surround-view sensors.
As part of the partnership, Jaguar Land Rover will use Nvidia's artificial intelligence technology for "real- time physically accurate simulation", joined by over-the-air updates to provide "innovative assisted and automated driving services throughout the life of the vehicle".
The roll-out of Nvidia technology in Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) vehicles will coincide with Jaguar's switch to electric power across its line-up, which will see a range of new, ultra-luxurious launched on a new electric platform, pitched at the likes of Bentley and Aston Martin.
Meanwhile, Land Rover plans to launch six electric vehicles between 2024 and 2026, in order to see 60 per cent of sales accounted for by all-electric models in 2030 – at which point the company plans to offer an electric version of every model line it sells.

"Our long-term strategic partnership with Nvidia will unlock a world of potential for our future vehicles as the business continues its transformation into a truly global, digital powerhouse."
