Honda has confirmed that its compact new HR-V SUV will be offered exclusively with a 1.8 litre petrol engine when it hits Australia in February.
Overseas, the new reborn HR-V (offered in Japan as the Vezel) comes in 1.5 litre petrol and 1.6 litre diesel forms, along with a petrol-electric hybrid option.
In Australia, the HR-V will be driven by a 1.8 litre i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol engine - shared with the Civic - that offers 105kW and 172Nm of torque.
Honda promises fuel consumption figures of between 6.6 and 6.9 l/100km.
By comparison, the new Jazz hatch, which shares its platform with the HR-V, is offered with an 88kW 1.5 litre engine only.
