Video: Driver miraculously survives horror Mustang crash

The driver of a Ford Mustang GT is lucky to be alive after his car was involved in a collision with a truck and one other vehicle on a freeway in California.

Video footage captured at the scene of the incident in the suburb of Anaheim, California, on March 31 shows the performance car wedged beneath the truck, with only its rear quarter and tail lights still visible.

The footage then shows emergency services towing the black Mustang out from under the truck's cargo compartment, revealing extensive damage to the front of the car.

According to On Scene TV, the male Mustang driver was able to evacuate his car with assistance from onlookers before being taken to hospital, but there were no other injuries.

Meanwhile, the Mustang was left almost entirely roofless, with its windscreen smashed and large sections of the passenger side crushed.

When purchased new, the rear-wheel-drive Ford Mustang GT is priced from $68,290 before on-road costs (for an automatic transmission) and is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine capable of producing a peak of 339kW and 556Nm of torque.

California Highway Patrol and Anaheim and Rescue Department both attended the scene of the crash and the California Highway Patrol is reportedly still investigating the incident.
