Ferrari F40 tribute to be revealed – report
A one-off supercar inspired by the iconic Ferrari F40 could be about to be revealed, according to a report from The Supercar Blog.
Sources have said Ferrari is getting ready to unveil the secret project, known internally as 'SP42'.
Like the original Ferrari F40, the homage will use a twin-turbo V8 powertrain, thought to be the 3.9-litre engine borrowed from the Ferrari F8 Tributo.
The renders pictured show what a modern take on the F40 might look like, and come courtesy of German studio GDMW Design for CGI. The vehicle design was created by artist Samir Sadikhov.
First released in 1987, the Ferrari F40 featured a rear mid-mounted 2.9-litre twin-turbo V8, sending 352kW to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, and completing the 0-100km/h sprint in a reported 4.7 seconds.
Only 1315 F40s were ever produced, and the model is often credited as being the first modern supercar.
