Facelifted Kia EV6 spied in South Korea, official reveal due in 2024

The Kia EV6 is due for a facelift within the next 12 months, with a camouflaged version of the electric SUV spotted in a South Korean car park.

A heavily-camouflaged version of the soon-to-be-facelifted Kia EV6 electric car has been spied in South Korea, with overseas reports suggesting the battery-powered model is in line to be refreshed next year.

In a video uploaded to YouTube by ‘WoopaTV’ – first spotted by automotive news outlet Korean Car Blog – the EV6 was spied in the car park of a South Korean shopping centre, and covered by Kia in large amounts of camouflage to hide its refreshed appearance.

While industry sources have told Drive the facelifted Kia EV6 is expected to be a mild revision of the current model – which was unveiled in March 2021 – the camouflaged model appears to be fitted with significantly thinner headlights than the existing electric SUV.

A close up of the EV6’s front end also exposes a pair of vertically-mounted LED fog lights, a feature which Kia’s existing electric car does not have.

According to the Korean Car Blog, sources have told the publication certain base variants of the updated EV6 could be powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, which would likely drive down the price of its least-expensive variants.

Flagship grades will reportedly receive more efficient electric motors alongside an increase in battery density for greater driving range.

The 2023 Kia EV6 Air

Inside, the publication claims the EV6 is likely to be equipped with a 5.0-inch display for its heating and air conditioning systems – borrowed from the EV9 large SUV – in addition to the existing dual 12.3-inch infotainment and digital dash displays.

The facelifted Kia EV6 is reportedly expected to launch in South Korea in mid-2024, ahead of European and North American deliveries beginning later next year – pointing towards a 2025 Australian arrival.

In Australia, the Kia EV6 is currently priced from $72,590 plus on-road costs (Air) to $99,590 plus on-road costs (GT).
