Crystal-encrusted toy car offered at auction

The one-of-one Jaguar E-type replica is made from 100,000 crystals with 24-karat gold plating – and reportedly took over 300 hours to build.

A pedal-powered replica of a Jaguar E-Type encrusted with 100,000 crystals and plated with 24-karat gold has gone under the hammer.

Auctioned by RM Sothebys, the children’s car reportedly took more than 300 hours to build, with each Swarovski gemstone “applied by hand” – made in the UK by bespoke motor builders Half Scale Cars.

The bejewelled E-Type was made in 2019 and sold exclusively through Harrods – a famous UK retailer – and was auctioned off on 9 March 2024.

On the interior, the one-of-one sports car model can be seen decorated with a gold-plated steering wheel and quilted leather upholstery with “bench style” seating.
