2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max seven-seat SUV due in Australia in April
The Chinese car brand's seven-seat family SUV will be offered in three model grades as a rival to the Mitsubishi Outlander and Honda CR-V.
The 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max seven-seat SUV is due to arrive in Australian showrooms in April.
The Tiggo 8 Pro Max is the largest vehicle yet from the Chinese car maker – similar in size to the Mitsubishi Outlander and Nissan X-Trail – with ‘Tiggo’ the name Chery gives to one of its SUV sub-brands.
The new model – which is at the larger end of the mid-size SUV category – will sit above the Tiggo Pro 7 small-to-mid-size SUV, and the Omoda 5 small SUV in Chery showrooms.
Prices are yet to be revealed, however it is likely to cost more than the Tiggo 7 Pro, which ranges from $39,990 to $45,990 drive-away.
Chery Australia has confirmed the Tiggo 8 Pro Max will be available in three trim levels: the Urban front-wheel drive, Elite front-wheel drive and Ultimate all-wheel drive.
The Tiggo 8 Pro Max brings similar styling to the Tiggo 7 Pro, with a ‘signature diamond grille’, integrated roof rails, and four exhaust tips.
The Australian model mixes styling from different variants of the Tiggo 8 sold in China, with the front end of the Tiggo 8 Plus, and the rear of the Tiggo 8 Pro Champion Edition.
All three versions of the Tiggo 8 Pro Max will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 180kW/375Nm, matched with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Full specifications and pricing are yet to be released, but government certification documents seen by Drive show the Tiggo 8 Pro Max Urban weighs in at 1626kg.
The documents indicate standard equipment will include 18-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, cornering lights, rear fog lamps, and power windows and mirrors.
The Tiggo 8 Pro Max Urban appears to share its flat-bottom three-spoke steering wheel with the Tiggo 7 Pro, as well as digital instruments and a 12.3-inch centre infotainment touchscreen.
It’s also expected to include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone capability, and a wireless charging pad for smartphones, if the Tiggo 7 Pro is a guide.
The Ultimate is expected to offer a panoramic sunroof as part of its longer standard equipment list.
