BMW M5, Mercedes-AMG E63 S, Porsche Panamera head-to-head – video
Which uber-quick executive has the legs over a 1/2 mile?
Everyone loves a good drag race, especially when there are three big sedans – okay, two sedans and one 'four-door coupe' – involved. Over in the UK, Autocar has sent the BMW M5, Mercedes-AMG E63 S and Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid into battle, to find out which ultra-exec is quickest off the line.
The trio is closely matched on paper: the M5 makes 441kW and 750Nm from its twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8, the E63 produces 450kW and 850Nm from its bi-turbo 4.0-litre V8, and the Panamera pumps out 500kW and 850Nm from its twin-turbo V8 hybrid system.
All three cars are all-wheel drive, too, so traction off the line shouldn't be an issue for any of the drivers. Buckle up and place your bets, folks.
