Australian rally champion and Extreme E star, Molly Taylor to return to WRC
She's been turning heads in the Extreme E series, now Taylor will return to WRC for three outings.
Molly Taylor has been recruited to compete in three World Rally Championship rounds this year where she'll be piloting the all-new four-wheel-drive M-Sport Ford Fiesta Rally3.
The 2016 Australian Rally Champion made her debut in the WRC in 2011 when she obtained a scholarship to the FIA World Rally Championship Academy, now know as the Junior WRC.
Taylor will again be teaming up with co-driver Seb Marshall: “We’re getting the band back together!” said Taylor.
“I’m really excited to have this opportunity and get back to some of my favourite WRC events in Finland, Estonia, and the Acropolis, which has always been on the bucket list," she told media at the announcement.
"When this opportunity with the new Rally3 car came up, I think it was a combination of all the little things that just fell into the right place, and so when the opportunity arose, it was possible to jump at it. I always wanted to get back into the WRC. I feel like it’s been many years of trying to get to an opportunity like this – that I was trying for back in 2012 – but I’ll take it now!”
The Fiesta Rally3 has been developed by M-Sport Poland as an all-new Ecoboost-powered car for the FIA’s Rally3 category.
This year Molly has been dominant in Extreme E, the all-new electric rally series – winning the first two rounds for Nico Rosberg’s Rosberg X Racing. The next event takes place in Greenland at the end of August.
The first WRC event is Rally Estonia which kicks off in mid July, followed by the Acropolis Rally in Greece in September and finally, the Rally Finland at the beginning of October.
