Audi Q6 E-Tron, Porsche Macan EV arriving in 2022 – report
Leaked presentation 'confirms' battery-electric Audi and Porsche SUVs for 2022 launch, alongside ID.Buzz van.
Details have emerged out of Europe of the Volkswagen Group's planned electric vehicle (EV) onslaught over the next two years.
A screenshot of a leaked presentation shown during a Volkswagen Group investor meeting earlier this week – published online by Romanian publication Automarket – reveals the launch dates for a range of the Volkswagen Group's upcoming all-electric models.
Headlining the information showcased in the slide is confirmation that in 2022 – alongside Porsche's next-generation, zero-emissions Macan – Audi will launch the Q5 E-Tron (or Q6 E-Tron, as it could be called), an electric mid-size SUV slotting just below the segment-straddling E-Tron (no badge) in its burgeoning EV range.

While details on the Audi's styling and powertrain are thin on the ground, should the relationship between the current, petrol-powered Audi Q5 and Porsche Macan twins hold true into their new generations, expect the electric SUV pair to share their rumoured PPE electric-only platform and array of high-performance powertrains.
A report from British publication Autocar earlier this year hinted at a range naming structure for the new Macan similar to that of Porsche's first and only electric vehicle, the Taycan, with Turbo and Turbo S performance flagships, and a selection of less powerful, longer-range variants sitting underneath.

According to Autocar, the flagship Macan Turbo S will feature two electric motors – one on each axle, creating all-wheel-drive – for combined outputs of 522kW of power and 1017Nm of torque, delivering an expected sub-three second 0-100km/h sprint time.
While yet to be officially confirmed, it's likely the Macan EV's Audi twin will offer an identical or similar range of powertrains.
The SUV twins are expected to differ more significantly in the styling department.
An image released earlier this month of an electric Macan clay model in Porsche's design studio (above) reveals a Taycan-inspired aesthetic, with high-set headlights, sculpted lower body lines and trim, and a steeply-raked, coupe-like roofline.
It's possible the Q5 E-Tron will adopt a more conventional SUV shape, with the potential for a 'Sportback' model to be offered down the track for buyers looking for a coupe-style shape.
The leaked presentation also confirms 2021 launch dates for a range of Volkswagen Group EVs, both revealed and yet-to-be-shown – namely the Cupra el-Born hot hatch, Skoda Enyaq iV, Audi Q4 E-Tron and the Volkswagen ID.5, the production version of the ID. Crozz concept – and a 2022 debut for the Kombi-inspired, Volkswagen ID.Buzz people mover.
