Around the tracks: Gucci collaborates with Hot Wheels

Plus, a Maybach imitation upgrade that won't break the bank.

When we’re not creating it ourselves, the Drive team spends a lot of time finding and consuming motoring content from all over the world.

Here’s a handful of the photos, articles, videos or social media posts that most caught our eye last week. Some of them are brand new, others have been online for a while.

Enjoy them – just not too much, okay?

One of the cheapest Gucci items you may ever find

Gucci has revived the 1982 Cadillac Seville Gucci edition by collaborating with Hot Wheels. The limited-edition 1:64 scale version of the real-world car is the first official collectable for the luxury brand, and Hot Wheels' first venture into the fashion scene.

The creation has an all-metal diecast body and chassis, along with 'real riders' tyres', with the company confirming that all finishes on the model are authentic – including the signature Gucci pattern on the roof.

The toy experts have paid attention to elements beyond the car itself, with the collectable sold in a clear box finished with the Gucci logo, along with the Gucci green wrapping paper and box.

The miniature Cadillac is limited to 5000 examples with a price tag of around $AU160, however people have already stocked up, with pre-order slots fetching $500 tp $800 on eBay.

The Maybach imitation upgrade that won’t break the bank (sort of)

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class certainly isn't the most affordable option in the German brand's line-up, but there's now a way for customers in China to have their very own lookalike, for a little less money.

A new Chinese body kit has been designed especially for the E-Class L, which is a long-wheelbase version of the familiar E-Class manufactured in China and India. The package brings the Maybach's badges, side mouldings, a new slatted grille, chrome garnishes and decorative exhaust pipes.

The kit is being sold online via the popular website, Alibaba, for a respectable price of $AU2000.

A car made completely from leather is up for grabs

It's certainly a head-turner, though perhaps not in a good way – and if you can believe it, this car was once listed for over a million dollars! Created five years ago this custom vehicle is based on a 1995 Toyota Crown sedan and packs a 2.5-litre engine producing 169kW.

The body of the car is completely wrapped in Canadian bison leather which is regularly laminated by the owner to ensure it stays in good condition – though it can also be run through a normal car wash.

The car is being listed online for a new price of approximately $AU420,000. Seeing as you can get a Ferrari for this price we wonder how much luck the owner will have with the sale.

An app to make every journey just like a ride with James Corden. Car-eoke, anyone?

The everyday singalong to the radio just doesn't seem to cut it anymore for car buyers in China – instead, they want karaoke in their cars.

This would entail a large screen being fitted to the vehicle, plus in-car compatibility with local singalong apps such as Changba. Automotive News has reported that Western car makers are battling to keep up with buyers' desires for karaoke-like features.

The publication adds that Chinese brands are on the front foot, with local car makers Xpeng, Nio and BYD all offering cars with karaoke microphones already installed. You never know, but one day in the near future we may see this feature pop up on options lists in markets beyond China. Would you tick the box?

The price of this Cellarette is equivalent to two Toyota RAV4s

To add to Rolls-Royce's Connoisseur collection, the brand has introduced the ultimate mechanism to hold your cigars and whisky while on the road. The chest features a polished frame with Rolls-Royce havana leather, and is finished with an Obsidian Ayous Open Pore veneer serving tray.

With an ambient glow inside, the chest fits hand-blown lowball glasses that get the brand's 'RR' monogram and rotate outwards once the box is opened. There's also a pair of leather-lined spaces – one side being a bottle holder and the other a cedar wood-lined humidor, finished with a hydrometer gauge which is a homage to the Phantom's gallery clock.

Buyers can display it in their home or in the swanky rear seats of their Rolls-Royce, seeing as engineers built these to fit perfectly in customers' vehicles. It doesn't come cheap though, with the Cellarette selling for approximately $AU74,000.
