2024 Polestar 4 orders to open in Australia shortly

Polestar’s electric-car showroom will soon grow from one to three models, with Polestar 4 orders beginning within weeks.

Chinese-owned electric-car specialist Polestar is due to open orders for its second SUV – the Tesla Model Y-sized Polestar 4 – in Australia in the coming weeks, ahead of showroom arrivals due in August.

“Polestar 4 has been very well received in China and ramping up production was an important milestone for us. Sales of [Polestar 4] will start in Europe and Australia in the coming weeks,” Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, said in a media statement addressing the company’s global sales in 2023.

“With the first deliveries of Polestar 3 expected in the [European] summer, our shift from being a one to three-car company positions us for a transformative and exciting 2024.”

Prices for the single-motor, rear-wheel-drive Polestar 4 start from $81,500 before on-road costs, and rise to $94,050 for the flagship dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version.

Claimed driving ranges in European WLTP testing are 600km and 560km, respectively.

The mid-size coupe-styled SUV is the company’s fourth model, joining the Polestar 2 mid-sized sedan and Polestar 3 large SUV in showrooms. The Polestar 1 was a luxury coupe only offered in select markets and has now ceased production.

Total Polestar deliveries for 2023 reached 54,600 cars globally, including approximately 12,800 cars delivered in the fourth quarter of the year (October to December). This includes 880 deliveries of the Polestar 4 in China..

Polestar’s production output increased by six per cent compared to 2022.
