Facelifted Peugeot 508 leaked ahead of official reveal

The Peugeot 508 has been facelifted, extending the life of the French sedan and wagon duo before it reportedly goes electric by the end of the decade.

The 2024 Peugeot 508 has leaked online one day before the French car-maker is set to officially reveal its facelifted model.

In a post uploaded to social media platform Instagram by CocheSpias, the leaked images show a significant update to the front end design of the second-generation Peugeot 508, which first launched in 2018.

The facelifted 508 incorporates elements from the recently-revealed Inception concept such as a larger grille, slimmer LED headlights, three vertical daytime running lights, Peugeot’s updated logo and more gloss black trim – at least in the wagon’s top-of-the-range ‘Sport Engineered’ grade.

The leaked images don’t provide any other angles of the Peugeot 508, though it does confirm the wagon and sedan will continue to be available with plug-in hybrid power.

Peugeot is due to show the facelifted 508 later this evening, providing a better look at what is tipped to be the final petrol-powered generation of the model.

UK publication Autocar reports the next-generation Peugeot 508 will go electric as a rival to the Tesla Model 3, adopting the upcoming ‘STLA’ electric-car platform from its parent company Stellantis.

While the publication did not say when the 508 will go electric and ditch petrol power, Peugeot has previously announced its plans for all cars sold in Europe to exclusively run on electric power by 2030.

As reported in September 2022, Peugeot intends to bring its electric cars to Australia, although it has not detailed which models will arrive and at what times.
