2024 Hyundai Ioniq 7 electric SUV spied for the first time
Hyundai's largest electric SUV has been spotted in the wild, with polarising styling inspired by a concept vehicle.
The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 7 has been captured testing for the first time.
Some 18 months after Hyundai revealed the Ioniq 7 concept at the Los Angeles motor show – simply named the Seven – images of a pre-production prototype of the electric SUV have been posted to Instagram by user @motorsjason.
Despite the heavy canvas camouflage, the Ioniq 7 appears to follow the boxy exterior lines of the Seven concept closely.
Like the concept, the production version will likely adopt a thin LED strip of lights at the front end, similar to the Hyundai Staria van – with some in South Korea referring to it as a 'Robocop' look.
The rear end also appears as if it could use tail-lights along the edge of the tailgate, as with the concept.
The wheel design has changed on the prototype, with a smaller set of alloy wheels that are almost dwarfed by the large body – though it appears as if the active-aero alloy wheels won't be adopted from the 2021 concept car.
It's expected the Ioniq 7 will be offered with up to seven seats, with the square shape of the body designed to maximise passenger headroom and luggage space.
Specifications of the Ioniq 7 have yet to be released, but Hyundai claimed more than 483 kilometres of driving from a single charge for the concept, suggesting it could have a battery capacity of approximately 100kWh.
The first examples of the Hyundai Ioniq 7 are due in Australian showrooms sometime next year.
