2023 Porsche 911 prices rise by up to $26,300 – but other models get price cuts

Porsche has added up to $26,300 to the Australian prices of its iconic 911 sports car variants – while other models have received price cuts as a part of tax changes.

Prices of the 2023 Porsche 911 range have risen by more than $17,800 across the series-production range – coinciding with price cuts for other Porsche models.

In effect from July 1, Porsche's entire series-production 911 range has risen by between $17,800 and $26,300, depending on variant – pushing the 'entry-level' 911 Carrera coupe automatic above a quarter of a million dollars for the first time (now $259,100 plus on-road costs).

Hardest hit is the 911 Turbo Cabriolet, which has increased by $26,300 to $452,000 plus on-road costs – though the most expensive series-production 911 variant outright remains the Turbo S Cabriolet, at $527,500 plus on-road costs (up $25,000).

Increases in standard specifications are believed to form part of the price rises, as part of the new Model Year – though full details are yet to be confirmed. Drive has contacted Porsche Cars Australia for further details.

The 911 price rises follow hikes across Porsche’s other models of up to $16,600 in early May – also accompanied by specification changes, including the addition of key advanced safety technology (fitted as standard to sub-$20,000 cars) as standard equipment on some near-$200,000 models.

However, two 911 variants have dropped in price, both of which are limited editions: the Edition 50 Years Porsche Design and Sport Classic, both falling by $800 to $426,100 and $598,300 plus on-road costs respectively.

Every other Porsche model has also decreased in price for July 1 – the Cayenne E-Hybrids, Panamera E-Hybrids and Taycan range by $1600, base 718 Cayman and Boxster by $1568, and all other variants (Macan, 718, Cayenne, Panamera) by $800.

These decreases align with increases to the Luxury Car Tax threshold for the new financial year, now pegged at $71,849 (from $69,152) for most vehicles, or $84,916 (up from $79,659) for “fuel-efficient” vehicles with combined fuel economy ratings of seven litres per 100km or less.

As reported by Drive last week, these reductions in the amount of payable LCT – which adds a 33 per cent tariff to each dollar above the threshold – will cut about $1575 from the price of a fuel-efficient car, or about $810 from the prices of other cars.
