2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee price and specs: Five-seat prices rise by up to $17,500
After months of delays, the new-generation five-seat Jeep Grand Cherokee is due to arrive in showrooms this month – with a significant price increase compared to the previous model.

The five-seat 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will arrive in Australian showrooms this month with prices more than $17,000 higher than the model it replaces.
Revealed overseas in September 2021, the new generation of Jeep’s five-seat Grand Cherokee will be priced from $77,950 plus on-road costs in ‘Night Eagle’ guise – a $17,500 price increase compared to the equivalent 2021 model.
Prices for the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and Overland grades have increased compared to the outgoing S-Limited and S-Overland – and are now powered by a 3.6-litre petrol V6, as with the entire range, rather than the V8 and diesel engines available previously.
The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited is priced from $83,950 plus on-road costs – $9500 more than the S-Limited V8 – while the flagship Overland will start from $98,450, a price increase of $14,000.
Compared to equivalent versions of the seven-seat Grand Cherokee L, the five-seat variants are $4800 cheaper.
Towing capacity is now rated at 2800kg (up from 2300kg previously) even though there has been no mechanical change to the vehicle. Instead, Jeep has chosen to measure towing capacity against SAE standards – widely used across the industry – versus EU standards previously.
While the previous-generation Grand Cherokee was offered with a choice of four petrol engines – a 3.6-litre V6 and three different V8s – and a diesel V6, Jeep’s new five-seat SUV will be exclusively offered with the carry-over petrol V6.
As previously reported, the 3.6-litre petrol V6 produces 210kW and 344Nm – a 3kW and 3Nm drop compared to the previous generation – and is mated to an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
A plug-in hybrid variant – with up to 280kW and 637Nm from its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors – will also join the Jeep Grand Cherokee line-up, though it is not due to arrive in Australia until the end of the year.
The 4xe plug-in hybrid will be available in Australia in top-of-the-range Summit Reserve trim.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be covered by a five-year, 100,000-kilometre warranty in Australia, while capped-price servicing costs for the SUV are yet to be announced.
The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee is due to go on sale this month.
