2023 GWM Ute Cannon-CC price and specs: Cab chassis due this month

After months of delays, GWM’s Ute now has a trio of workhorse cab-chassis variants – arriving in showrooms this month.

  • 2023 GWM Ute Cannon pricing and specifications
  • Dual-cab chassis variant launches with aluminium tray
  • 4x2 and 4x4 available across three variants
  • Priced from $36,990 drive-away

The 2023 GWM Ute cab chassis is due to arrive in Australian showrooms within weeks, almost 18 months after the dual-cab's tub-delete option was first reported.

In November 2021, Great Wall Motors (GWM) announced a dual-cab chassis variant of the GWM Ute was confirmed for Australia – though its showroom debut was most recently pushed back from early October/late November 2022 to later this month.

Available in three variants, the GWM Ute Cannon-CC is priced from $36,990 drive-away in 4x2 guise – an increase of $1000 compared to the tubbed dual-cab – while small businesses and ABN holders receive a $1500 discount, paying $35,490 for the cab chassis ute.

Stepping up to the GWM Ute Cannon-CC 4x4 results in a further price increase of $3000 ($39,990 drive-away, $38,490 for ABN holders), while the Cannon-L CC 4x4 tops the range with a drive-away price of $43,490 (or $41,990 for ABN customers).

The GWM Ute Cannon-CC features an aluminium tray – measuring 1730mm long, 1855mm wide and 235mm deep – in place of the existing dual-cab’s tub, resulting in an increased payload capacity of 1130kg (up 80kg) and an unchanged braked towing capacity (3000kg).

The dual-cab chassis ute continues to be powered by a 120kW/400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, which is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission – driving either the rear (4x2) or all four wheels (4x4).

According to GWM, the Ute Cannon-CC 4x2 and 4x4 grades return claimed fuel economy figures of 8.4L/100km and 9.4L/100km respectively.

Excluding its aluminium tray, the GWM Ute Cannon-CC’s standard equipment is unchanged from the existing dual-cab, while just three colours are available for the cab chassis ute – Pearl White (no-cost option), Pittsburgh Silver ($595) and Slate Grey ($595).

The GWM Ute range is offered with a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, as well as five years of roadside assistance and capped price servicing.

The 2023 GWM Ute Cannon-CC is due to arrive in Australian showrooms later this month.
