The 2022 BMW 8 Series range has gained a new Heritage Edition variant, limited to just nine examples due in customer driveways in the fourth quarter of 2021 (October to December inclusive).
Offered solely in entry-level 840i guise across all three body styles (Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe), the 8 Series Heritage Edition intends to pay tribute to the original 'E31' 8 Series launched by BMW in Australia in 1990, with a selection of exterior, interior and chassis upgrades.
Heritage Edition buyers can choose from one of three exterior and interior colour combinations, pairing a matte-effect BMW Individual exterior finish with BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery.
Frozen Marina Bay Blue exterior paint pairs with black Merino leather, Frozen Black is matches with Ivory White Merino trim, and Frozen Dark Silver is offered solely with a mix of 'Tartufo' and black Merino leather trimmings.
Other interior additions over the 'standard' 840i include a "Edition Heritage – 1/9" centre console badge, CraftedClarity Glass finishes for the infotainment controller dial, gear selector and engine starter button, gloss black interior trim inlays and, on Coupe and Gran Coupe models, anthracite Alcantara (suede) headlining.
Those items are joined by 20-inch black alloy wheels, red brake calipers (though blue items are pictured), high-gloss black exterior trim, an M Sport rear differential, adaptive dampers, and M Sport brakes.
Other standard highlights include heated and ventilated front seats, heated armrests, a 464-watt Harman Kardon sound system, soft-close doors, leather-trimmed instrument and upper door panels, and an array of driver-assistance technologies, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and automatic parking.
All Heritage Edition models are powered a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine, sending 250kW and 500Nm to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2022 BMW 840i Heritage Edition will reach the first customers' driveways in the fourth quarter of 2021 (October to December inclusive).
