2021 International Automotive Photography Awards – submissions close soon!

The second annual IAPA is open to all automotive shutterbugs around the world. Entries close just before 11am on Tuesday.

Taking great photos of cars isn't just our job, it's our passion. We're not alone either, a quick scan of Instagram will garner some truly impressive automotive photography from amateurs and professionals alike.

To celebrate the global love of capturing the essence of cars on 'film', automotive lifestyle brand, The Mechanists, is running the International Automotive Photography Awards for the second year running.

Entries are open now, but close this coming Tuesday 16-November at 10.59am (AEST).

IAPA 2020 Motorsport category winner by Romain Thuillier

Photography can be submitted across one of six categories; Atmosphere, Beauty, Car Spotter, Motorsport, Phone photography and Amateur. Each entry costs £2, which is a bit under $4 Australian.

Details for each category are as follows:

Atmosphere:An image taken candidly that captures the subject, it’s environment and an element of story telling. Imagery that puts the viewer in the moment.
Beauty:An image that emphasizes the subject’s beauty or attractive aspects or qualities.
Motorsports:A photo taken in a competitive sporting events which involve the use of motorized vehicles.
Car spotters:Photographing interesting, vintage, rare, modified, and/or exotic supercars on public roads.
Phone photography:An image taken on a smartphone – entrant must be able to prove that the image was taken on a phone
Amateur:A photographer who engages in a pursuit or activity for pleasure rather than for financial benefit

There are great prizes on offer, as the competition is supported by Bentley and Gyeon car care products.

For inspiration, you can browse examples of previous winners, but you'll have to act fast!

So brush up on your tips, or browse through that back catalogue of images, and have a go! We're entering a couple of photos, so will let you know how we get on.
