2021 Honda vehicle price list: Fixed prices and agency model now in effect
Honda's new 'agency' business model and fixed pricing structure came into effect in Australia on July 1. Here's how much you can expect to pay for each of the brand's models.
Honda Australia switched over to an 'agency' business model from 1 July 2021, bringing with it fixed prices for its entire model line-up.
Buyers walking into one of 90 'Honda Centres' around the country (down from 105 dealers previously) will no longer be able to negotiate on the price of their Honda vehicle, and instead will pay a fixed drive-away price applicable across all locations nationwide.
Included in the drive-away prices are all on-road costs and dealer delivery charges, plus metallic or pearlescent paint (if optioned by the customer), a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty (if used for non-commercial purposes), and a five-year 'premium' roadside assistance program.
The prices also include a five-year capped-price servicing program, which sees customers pay $125 per service – included in each are 'base' service items, plus 'adaptive' ones such as cabin pollen filters, engine air filters, brake fluid and transmission fluid.
Honda claims "more than $2000 of value will be delivered to the customer under the new business model", $1250 of which is said to come from the capped-price servicing program.
Accessories are not included under in the new prices, however – with three new accessory packs now available: Essentials, Style and Premium Protection.
Under the new 'agency' business model, Honda Australia owns all new-car stock, and sells each vehicle to a customer on a first-come, first-served basis – with dealers paid a flat fee for each sale. Dealers are still tasked with displaying Honda vehicles and offering test drive cars to buyers, however.
That's compared to the outgoing dealer model, which saw Honda Australia purchase cars from its factories and re-sell these to individual Honda dealers at a determined 'cost' price, who would own these vehicles before selling them to customers at a price negotiated between the customer and the dealer.
In order to accomodate the move from before on-road costs pricing to drive-away figures – and allow these to apply nationwide – prices of Honda vehicles in Australia have risen by between $251 and $977.
