2019 Jeep Cherokee Revealed

Jeep has revealed its updated Cherokee ahead of an official debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month.

The few images released show what appears to be the facelifted Limited and Trailhawk models and one interior photo from upfront.

Designers have overhauled the front-end styling that arrived with some controversy but didn’t hinder sales in Australia. The facelift sees the narrow-slit lights gone in favour of fuller headlamps with DRLs, joined by the American brand's iconic seven slot grille in-between that features across its line-up.

The bonnet and bumper have also been tweaked to suit the new face and around back the rear is more sculpted and receives restyled LED taillights and a new bumper design.

The hardcore Trailhawk version shows the same distinctive red tow hooks upfront outside a unique honeycomb black bumper, Firestone clad black alloys and black roof rails and accents on the exterior trim, along with the ‘trail rated’ plaque that adorns all off-road tested Trailhawk variants. 

Inside, the interior image depicts what appears to be the Cherokee Limited that retains its leather trim and a mostly unchanged dash design, though the lower centre console and small trim elements have had a minor tweak.

No further details have been released – we’ll have to wait until the Detroit  motor show next month for full specifications – but on the cards for the range is the new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that debuted in the new Jeep Wrangler, where it produces 201kW of power and 400Nm of torque.

Jeep Australia is expected to release details of local plans for the new-look Cherokee soon.
