2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE recalled for rear bumper fix
Mercedes-Benz says 45 vehicles in Australia built between 2019 and 2020 may have a faulty rear bumper bar crossmember.
Mercedes-Benz Australia has issued a recall of 45 examples of its GLE wagon with Model Years from 2019 to 2020 (MY19-MY20) due to a faulty rear bumper bar crossmember.
The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says the faulty crossmember "might not meet the required specification."
Mercedes-Benz says if vehicles are winched using the rear towing eye, the crossmember may crack or even detach from the vehicle.
Affected cars were sold between 1 November 2019 and 31 March 2020. Mercedes-Benz Australia is contacting owners to organise a free replacement of the part.
The brand says there are no known instances of the issue affecting Australian owners, and the recall is a precautionary measure.
A full list of vehicle identification numbers of the 361 cars involved in the recall can be found here.
