2015 Range Rover Sport : New entry model, hybrids join updated line-up
The 2015 Range Rover Sport line-up has been expanded with the introduction of a new entry variant and two new hybrids.
Land Rover Australia has also boosted the specification of the SE, HSE and HSE Dynamic variants, claiming to add more than $6000 of equipment to each with no price changes.
The new Range Rover Sport TDV6 S lowers the price of entry to the luxury line-up by almost $10K, kicking off at $92,600.
The TDV6 S is utilises the 190kW/600Nm 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo diesel engine from the next-model-up $102,400 TDV6 SE and front and rear air suspension.
Standard features include 19-inch alloy wheels, six-way driver and four-way passenger manual adjustable seats, reverse-view camera with guidance lines and hitch assist function, hard disk navigation system with voice control, and an eight-speaker 250-watt audio system.
Cloth upholstery is standard in the S (leather is a $4720 option), while it also misses out on the SE’s power tailgate (a $1200 option).
MY15 Range Rover Sport SE derivatives gain $6860 in extra features, adding auto xenon headlamps with LED signature and high beam assist, front parking sensors, auto-dimming side mirrors, and 14-way power adjustable front seats.
HSE and HSE Dynamic variants add $6470 in new equipment, including auto headlights with high beam assist, auto dimming side mirrors, 18-way power adjustable front seats, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, configurable mood lighting, premium floor mats, and an enhanced volumetric alarm.
The Range Rover LR-SDV6 HSE Hybrid and Autobiography Hybrid are now also available to order ahead of their scheduled showroom arrival in March 2015. The HSE Hybrid is priced from $146,900 and the Autobiography Hybrid from $165,300, making them $21,500 and $20,200 more than their equivalent non-hybrid models respectively.
The diesel-hybrid powertrain produces peak outputs of 250kW of power and 700Nm of torque, combining the SDV6’s 215kW/600Nm 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo diesel with a 35kW/175Nm electric motor.
Combined cycle fuel consumption is rated at 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres, down 12 per cent compared with the non-hybrid SDV6. The more powerful hybrid is also 0.9 seconds quicker from 0-100km/h, stopping the clock in 6.7 seconds.
The HSE Hybrid also scores larger 21-inch alloy wheels (HSE gets 20s), while both diesel-electric models gains Dynamic Program and torque vectoring over their non-hybrid versions.
Also available on HSE Dynamic and Autobiography Dynamic variants is the new $4000 Stealth Pack, which sees the front grille, fog light bezels, side vents, mirror caps, alloy wheels, wheel nuts, and bonnet and tailgate badges all finished in satin black.
