UPDATE: Hyundai has now also revealed the Indian-market 'Elite i20', which appears largely identical to the model destined for Western markets.
Hyundai has released the first official images of its new i20 hatch this week, ahead of a global unveiling at October’s Paris Motor Show.
These images come on the heels of revealing spy photos published last week, offering a first look at Hyundai’s new second-generation light hatch.
Hyundai has given the compact i20 a more premium design as the company looks to grow its market share against the likes of Toyota's Yaris and the incoming new Mazda2.
The new i20 shares key styling cues with the new and smaller i10 hatch, with both wearing the latest generation of Hyundai’s large lower grille, long headlights and fast rising belt-line.
There’s a strong and angular look to the new i20’s profile, while the rear gets unique blacked-out C-pillars and slender Genesis-inspired tail lights.
Full details are still to come, but Hyundai has confirmed the new model rides on a 2570mm wheelbase, 45mm longer than its predecessor. Overall length is 4035mm.
