Fiat has refreshed its 500 light car range for 2014, bringing new customising options and more standard equipment in some models.

An update to the range last year introduced a $14,000 drive-away price for the entry-level 500 Pop, but the 2014 ‘Series 3’ model will now start at $17,000 drive-away for the manual version.

This reflects a price rise across the now simplified model range, but all 500 models now get drive-away pricing.

The Sport is replaced by the ‘S’ variant and the ‘500 by Gucci’ is no longer available, while Australia misses out on the new range-topping ‘Cult’ model available overseas.

A key influence on the new price is a “complete user-connectivity upgrade”, with Fiat adding a seven-inch TFT (Thin Film Transistor) instrument display; standard in the S and Lounge models.
