BMW's Motorrad motorcycle arm has announced Australian release of the updated-for-2012 S 1000 RR, bringing a handful of mechanical tweaks at the same $22,290 price tag.
BMW lists improvements to the supersport bike's suspension, steering-head angle and swing-arm pivot, along with an optimised torque curve.
While there have been no changes to the 142kW power output and a 'wet-weight' of 204kg (including 90 percent fuel), the throttle has been reconfigured for a tighter twist-grip angle and improved sensitivity.
There is a new internal structure to the upside-down fork and rear shock to provide a wide range of damping forces from comfort to performance, plus an adjustable mechanical steering damper.
On the styling front, there's a new and more compact tail section, along with subtle tweaks to the fairings and aero winglets.
There is also a redesigned LCD instrument cluster (with new functions "Best lap in progress" and "Speedwarning") for better readability and with five dimming levels.
A HP titanium exhaust system, HP race data logger and heated grips number among a range of options.
Pricing
Priced at $22,290 (plus on-roads), deliveries of the new S 1000 RR will begin in February.
