1970 Dodge Charger: The General could be yours
While only a replica, the seller confirms the doors on this Dodge Charger do work.
Australian auction house Lloyds Online is selling a 1970 Dodge Charger, styled after 'General Lee' from the American film and TV series Dukes of Hazzard.
Like some of the examples from the Hollywood classic, the tribute car for sale features a 6.3-litre V8 engine – known in imperial as the 383.
Despite the listing stating the car has a "radiator leak" from a "bottom hose" and "left hand front shock sag", the current bid at time of writing is AU$67,000.
It also mentions that "The doors do open, for all you Dukes of Hazzard fans."
Because of its involvement in the American TV series and feature film, the orange-coloured muscle car car has become a cultural icon.
It's said that during filming of 147 TV Episodes and one feature film, that around 250 to 300 movie cars were built, and mostly destroyed.
Warner Brothers is believed to have used "more than one" General Lee during the filming of each Dukes of Hazzard episode.
