Zagato Celebrates Aston Martin Centenary With Custom Client Pair

Legendary design house Zagato has revealed a pair of Aston Martin concepts this week, celebrating the British marque's 100th birthday.

The Italian studio has been associated with Aston Martin for more than half that time, most recently developing a road-and-track duo that will be produced in limited numbers. 

Now, Zagato has unveiled the Centennial twins, new retro-styled coupe and roadster one-off models that have already been sold to a pair of wealthy collectors.

Zagato says the two cars are inspired by its custom 2002 DB7 cars, which was popular enough to see all 99 units sold off before their Paris Motor Show debut had even occurred. 

These latest Zagato offerings were designed by the same brains that led the styling of the DB7 cars, with both showcasing a unique style that is one part Zagato and one part Aston. 

“The DB9 Spyder Zagato Centennial perfectly merges Aston Martin and Zagato’s DNA by combining the elegance of design, typical of Zagato, with the soul, power and prestige of Aston Martin, all developed over the last 100 years," the company says.

Developed purely as a styling exercise, the Centennial models are powered by Aston's familiar 6.0 litre V12 engine, producing 380kW.
