Young Automotive Designers To Feature At Australian Internation Motor Show

This year's Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) will showcase winning entries in VACC’s Target 2030 ‘Design the car of the future’ competition.

Open to tertiary design and engineering students, and also with a section for secondary students, the competition draws dozens of entries each year, competing for significant cash prizes.

Winners in the design and model-making categories walk away with a $3000 prize, the same amount also going to their university or school.

This year's judging and awards ceremony will be held on Saturday July 2, at the MEC. On the judging panel are Richard Ferlazzo (Chief Designer at GM Holden Design), Neil McDonald (Ford Motor Co Australia, Brand Communications Manager) and Brian Tanti (CEO, AutoHorizon Foundation).

Now a feature of the Melbourne event, the quality of entries in design and model-making is breathtaking.

"The winning entries will be seen by thousands of people, including CEOs and head designers of the world’s top manufacturers, plus representatives of component suppliers, automotive industry groups and the media," VACC Executive Director, David Purchase, said.
