Dubbed the ‘X-Car’, the unique Sorento was a joint effort from Kia and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
The car’s existence came about to promote X-Men: Days Of Future Past which will soon be available on Blu-Ray and DVD, along with Kia’s long association with the Australian Open.
Fans of either the movie or the carmaker (or both) can guess via Kia’s Facebook page which X-Men character the car best represents, choosing from Storm, Wolverine, Mystique and Magneto.
Correct guesses from fans earn them a place in the draw to win a copy of X-Men: Days Of Future Past on DVD.
Tennis ace and Kia ambassador, Rafael Nadal, will be on hand to pull the covers from the X-Car next year, but ‘Rafa’s’ involvement doesn’t end there.
Nadal will feature in a video to be released by Kia next month, showing the Spanish tennis player teaming up with the X-Men to fight the Sentinels (the baddies from the movie) who threaten the 2015 Australian Open; in some way…
Kia’s X-Car then appears to save the day, and the tournament can go ahead as planned from January 19 next year.
We’re guessing the sequel might show Nadal winning the men's singles crown at the Open.
Those who wish to see the X-Car can do so at Kia’s Australian Open stand during the tournament, which would also be a unique way to see the all-new Sorento.
Kia says the Sorento will arrive in showrooms (including Australia) from early next year - “if it survives its fight with the Sentinels”.
