Subaru Australia has announced a series of dealer events over the next four weeks to showcase its performance car range.
Subaru isn't letting the opportunity slip, however, with shows planed for dealerships in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
Besides the WRX Concept, the events will also star a new BRZ S model. Available online from mid-June, the S pack adds a number of sports styling elements, along with a flexible tower bar, coil spring-set and 17-inch black STI alloy wheels.
Also available later this year will be a range of special-edition options for the current WRX, which will also be previewed at the dealership events.
Details are still to be confirmed, but Subaru says the package will include "many of the accessories shown on the prototype display car" destined for the dealership events.
Among the features will be Recaro seats with blue alcantara inserts, gold-coloured coated 17-inch alloy wheels, STI rear and front spoiler, black steering wheel stitching, blue seat and door armrest stitching, and STI soft-touch centre console lid with blue stitching.
A 'Liberty GT Wagon Special Edition Prototype' will also feature, adding 18-inch Enkei alloy wheels, front and rear spoilers, skirts, pin stripes, flexible tower bar, automatic transmission gear knob, front LED lights, front and rear coil springs, sports exhaust, battery/clamp holder, oil and valve caps.
Subaru Australia boss Nick Senior said that the event serves two purposes.
“Firstly, it is a chance to demonstrate our performance vehicle credentials, it is a coup to get the WRX Concept car from the New York show and there are other displays that showcase our long and successful heritage in sporty vehicles,” Mr Senior said.
“Secondly, with the future of the traditional motor show clouded, this gives us an opportunity to explore possible options.”
Mr Senior added that that events like this, held by individual carmakers, could soon become commonplace.
“Depending on the response, it could be the start of a whole new approach to dealing directly with our customers and Subaru enthusiasts - the next logical step in addition to more traditional print and online communications,” Mr Senior said.
“Our customer feedback indicates there’s still no substitute for seeing our hottest developments in the metal, so it’s an opportunity to amplify our presence in front of people genuinely interested in our cars.”
Subaru Australia has invited customers from its database to invitation-only evening events while the general public can view the cars on separate dates.
