What The: Arnold Schwarzenegger Offers Time And Tank Ride For Charity – Video

Hollywood star and ex-Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has offered up a unique prize in the pursuit of fund raising for charity.

The prize is a trip to Los Angeles and a ride in Arnie’s very own tank, as you, a friend, and the movie star drive around crushing things with the green army beast.

To enter, you must visit the Omaze.com/Arnold website and make a donation to the Afterschool All-Stars charity, which Arnie will match, dollar-for-dollar (website opens in new window).

The minimum donation is US$10, around AU$11. The winners also get to ‘pump iron’ with Schwarzenegger, as they spend the day with him.

As for the tank, it’s an M48 Patton, weighing in at 49 tonnes and producing 750 HP (560kW). Schwarzenegger says in the video (top of page) that owning a tank was his “lifelong dream”.  

The competition is open to anyone who isn’t a resident of Sweden, Spain or Malaysia (excluded for some reason), or from a list of countries that the US doesn’t like; also known as the “United States list of embargoed countries”. 

Afterschool All-Stars offers academic programs, along with health and fitness activities, to more than 90,000 children from families of poverty.
