Walkinshaw Performance Announces Barina, Captiva, Cruze Kits

Tuning outfit Walkinshaw Performance has announced growth into the SUV and small car markets, with new styling and suspension kits available for Holden's Captiva, Cruze and Barina models.

The expanded range includes lowering kits for the new models, and the Holden Commodore, along with wheels, spoilers, grills, side steps and nudge bar (depending on the car).

The new products come courtesy of a new partnership between Walkinshaw and German outfit Irmscher, best known for its work with Opel, Vauxhall and Peugeot cars.

"The decision to enter this market is based on two elements; the changing car buyers’ market and the growing demand for products to enhance these vehicles," Walkinshaw Performance General Manager Tony Harris said.

"Our emerging relationship with Irmscher in Europe means we are able to bring an extensive range of products to the Australian market, while ensuring said products are in line with our ideals and enhance the Walkinshaw name."

Walkinshaw's move to add new and smaller models to its range comes in the wake of the Mazda3 taking the top spot as Australia's best-selling car - the first time the Commodore has been dethroned in 15 years.

"Some people are buying smaller cars as their primary vehicle, some as a second vehicle. While there is still enormous sales growth and potential in our V8 product line, we also know that our customers are keen to see the Walkinshaw touch on cars outside of Commodore," Harris added.

Harris says that while the range is currently limited to styling accessories and the lowering kit, performance upgrades will be announced in the near future.

"We are acutely aware of the need for performance at a price- and performance that comes with an environmental green tick," he said.
