The annual GTI Treffen show at Lake Wörthersee in Austria has grown to become an enthusiast celebration of all sorts of Volkswagen Group products.

However, Volkswagen has not forgotten the event’s Golf GTI-centric heritage. At this week’s 2012 show it revealed a specially customised version of the Golf GTI called ‘Black Dynamic’.

The new 'concept' is the result of a collaboration of nine Volkswagen apprentices from various disciplines, giving the aspiring Volkswagen staffers a taste of the fruits of teamwork.

Key upgrades to the Black Dynamic include contrasting matte and gloss black paintwork, a power boost to 269kW (up from 155kW), along with 18 inch mesh wheels and brake and suspension upgrades.

The interior has not escaped the attention of the team, with a bespoke retrim offset by an 1800W sound system proudly displayed below a perspex false floor in the boot.

Black Dynamic’s modifications have not been merely a bolt-on affair, with details like GTI lettering on the hatch being custom-formed through a deep-drawing stamping process.

Volkswagen has also used the Wörthersee show to display the new cabriolet version of the GTI, which made its debut in concept form at the 2011 show.
