You weren’t supposed to see these images until next week, but the first official photos of the new Volvo V90 have jumped the gun and snuck out online.
Of course there’s little left to discern after two previous information leaks, the first of a scale model of the new wagon, and the second coming in the form of unmasked spy shots.
These new images however provide an even closer look at Volvo’s all-new range-topping wagon. Arriving as a wagon version of the S90 sedan, the V90 shares its frontal styling with the sedan, but offers a raked tailgate and new interpretation of Volvo’s tailgate-framing tail-lights.
The version featured shows how the high-end Inscription trim will appear, while also wearing T6 badging indicating that Volvo’s 235kW/400Nm 2.0 litre twincharged engine lurks under the bonnet.
As with the XC90, expect that to backed up with less-powerful petrol models, as well as a diesel selection, all featuring four-cylinders and measuring 2.0 litres in capacity.
Following the V90’s initial introduction, a T8 Twin Engine that pairs a 65kW electric motor with the T6’s petrol engine is also likely, bringing with it sportier R-design styling to act as range-topper for the V90 line-up.
Looking even further down the track, once S90 and V90 production is in full swing Volvo is expect to bring an SUV-styled V90 Cross Country to market, adding a raised ride-height and a more rugged looking set of chunky bumpers.
Along with its new suit, the V90 will also arrive with the same Volvo Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving technology as the S90, allowing it to accelerate, brake, and maintain its lane position at speeds up to130 km/h.
Full official information is set to be released at a special event to be held in Stockholm on the 18th of February, TMR will bring you all of those details as they emerge.
