The Volvo S80 is the second-oldest model in the Swedish automaker's line-up, but new reports from Europe suggest the seven year-old sedan will have to soldier on until 2015 before a replacement arrives.

Only the XC90 is older than the S80, and that model is set for an all-new replacement in 2014.

The S80's replacement will reportedly ride on the architecture underpinning XC90, however Volvo is also expected to spin a total of four different models out of the next-gen S80's underpinnings.

According to UK outlet Autocar, the new S80 will be joined by a long-wheelbase variant (potentially an exclusive for China), a V80 wagon and a 2+2 coupe that would replace the C70 convertible.

Curiously, the rumourmill says that despite its size, the new 2015 Volvo S80 will be powered exclusively by turbocharged petrol and diesel inline fours. If true, it means Volvo's superb twin-turbo inline six may not be long for this world.
