Volvo has pulled the covers from its updated 2014 range, affecting all but the brand-new V40 hatch and the outgoing XC90 large SUV.

The updates, hinted at by a revised 2014 XC60 spied in December, bring a more uniform look to the Volvo range. There's new bumpers, revised grille designs and restyled lighting.

The most extensive visual changes have been dealt to the XC60 SUV and the S60/V60 twins, with the distinctive dual-unit headlight design making way for a larger and more unified look.

The Swedish carmaker has yet to reveal full details on the update, but it is understoo that a revised and greener engine line-up will also debut with the 2014 range.

Trim grades are also expected to come in for an update, adding new features to help the older V70, XC70 and S80 models remain competitive.

In the case of the S80, an all-new model is expected to debut in near future, likely inspired by the Universe concept revealed in 2011.

Watch for more details on the updated Volvo range as they come to hand.
