Both will be made at Volvo’s Chinese plant in Daqing and sold in global markets.
The Volvo S90 Excellence is exclusive to China and targets the chauffeur-driven market with the front passenger seat replaced with a Lounge Console, first previewed by a 2015 XC90 Ecellence Lounge concept (pictured below) which provides extra legroom and an infotainment system.
Those seated in the rear also score a refrigeration compartment complete with Orrefors crystal glasses, foldout work tables, a touchscreen control and adjustable footrests.
Power comes from the T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid which is also available in the regular S90 along with the T4 and T5 petrol engines.
While full details on the upgraded S90 have not been released, Volvo confirmed the addition of ‘Pilot Assist’ which is a semi-autonomous cruise control system requiring the driver to still use the steering wheel.
And smartphone integration improves with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The updated Volvo S90 goes into production this month.
