The first evidence of a new-generation Volkswagen CC may have just arrived, with the carmaker today confirming it will unveil a new design study next week.
Details of the new concept, dubbed Coupe Concept GTE, are still to be revealed, although it is clear from these two sketches that we’ll see a big four-door coupe on Volkswagen’s Geneva Motor Show stand.
The lack of official information also means that the new show-car cannot yet be confirmed as a preview of the new CC - and, in fact, it could even be our first look at a new and more stylish Phaeton.
The general proportions shown in these sketches hints at a mid-sized car, however, suggesting that the new Passat sedan’s sleek twin is at last one its way.
VW has also confirmed the concept will preview a new design language for the brand, although, apart from the tall new grille design, these sketches suggest we’ll see more of an evolution than a revolution.
"This concept is based on Volkswagen design DNA, which has been visibly sharpened even more. It shows how the highest-volume brand of our Group is shaping the immediate future," Volkswagen design boss Walter de Silva said in a statement today.
Watch for the new concept to appear in Geneva next week.
