Volkswagen Teases Souped-up ‘Golf R 400’ Concept

Volkswagen is preparing to unveil a special new version of its hot Golf R hatch at next week’s Beijing Auto Show, delivering new aero tweaks - and a right kick in the pants.

Dubbed ‘Golf R 400’, the new concept is powered by a 2.0 litre turbo four churning out 295kW (or 400PS, hence the name) and 450Nm of torque.

That’s up from 221kW (206 for Australia) and 380Nm, and the reward? Volkswagen promises a 0-100km/h time of just 3.9 seconds - down from the production model’s 5.0 seconds.
