Before the new model Golf officially goes on sale in Australia, Volkswagen has sharpened pricing on the small hatch and wagon range including free on-road costs on some variants.

In an attempt to halt declining small car sales in Australia, the new 2017 Golf Mark 7.5 range will launch in July with special pricing, despite Volkswagen having previously announced the Golf’s regular pricing last month.

The new Golf range will be headed-up by a more powerful 110TSI model, which steps in for the previous 92TSI. As a result regular pricing gets pushed up from the previous $22,480 before on-roads to a more premium $23,990.

However, for a limited time VW has made $23,990 the drive-away price, which effectively makes it cheaper than the outgoing model despite the extra grunt and kit that comes with the new model.

The Golf GTI and R hatches will join the line-up in August with the Golf R wagon arriving in January 2018. However, for those that aren't prepared to wait until January, VW are offering 300 examples of the Wolfsburg edition Golf R wagon from late August.
