Volkswagen says it has two global unveilings planned for next month's Los Angeles Auto Show. And that's all it's saying.

Exactly what we'll see from VW at LA is unclear, although a cabriolet version of the all-new Beetle is proving a popular idea among pundits.

It has been a mere six months since the new 'Bug' was revealed to the world, and it remains to be seen if Volkswagen will reveal a topless variant so soon after the hardtop's unveiling.

Other possible debuts include a market launch for the Golf Cabriolet, an updated and facelifted Passat CC, and even a production version of the Beetle R concept revealed at Frankfurt in September.

The five-door version of Volkswagen's Up! city car could be on the cards for an LA debut, or even a worked-over R-badged version of the Polo hatch.

We could see a more advanced version, or even production-ready, version of the popular Bulli concept. Volkswagen Design boss Walter D'Silva has made no secret of the petite van's potential for a market launch.

Is it too soon to see the all-new seventh-generation Golf? The current Golf 6 has been kicking around only a few years, but with it being an overhauled version of the previous model, the new hatch could be closer than we think - and we already know it's in testing (see below).
