Volkswagen's R-Line styling package has returned to the European Passat range, where it once existed before the sedan and wagon were both given a massive overhaul in 2010.
Entering between the Comfortline and Highline trim grades, the R-Line package also adds boot and roof spoilers (depending on sedan or wagon), along with chrome exhaust tips and highlights.
Other features include silver roof rails for the wagon version, and both cars get a sports suspension package that lowers the car by 15mm.
The R-Line exterior bits can also be ordered for fitting to the regular Comfortline and Highline models.
As with Volkswagen's other R-Line packages, there are no plans to offer this enhanced Passat package in Australia, where it is believed that the option could dilute the appeal of the performance-focused R family.
For now, the R badge remains absent from the 'new' Passat range, headlined in its earlier incarnation by the Passat R36.
