Volkswagen has issued a recall for its 2015 and 2016 Jetta models this week, due to a potential problem with the braking system.

The carmaker has identified a problem with the vehicle’s vacuum pump, which could malfunction.

Should this occur, the vehicle’s braking system will have no vacuum assistance which could create a hazard for the vehicle occupants and other road-users.

A total of 266 vehicles are affected, and all are fitted with the 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine.

The carmaker has also recently issued recalls for its Tiguan SUV,  Touareg SUV and Passat Wagon, with each model recalled for separate reasons.

Volkswagen will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local dealer or call Volkswagen Customer Care on 1800 504 076.
