Volkswagen's new GTI Cabriolet was revealed at this year's Geneva Motor Show, but before that, it made an appearance in concept form at the 2011 Worthersee tour.
Alongside the cherry red performer was a Cabriolet version of the Golf line's hero model: the Golf R. But while the topless GTI is already hitting showrooms, the droptop R is nowhere to be seen.
That could be about to change however, with new spy photos suggesting that the GTI Cabrio will soon have a powerful new brother.
Details are thin on the ground, but with these new images following earlier renderings from a Chinese-market patent application, it looks clear that the new performer is on the way.
