Alongside the regular 2017 Crafter range, Volkswagen will also have a vision of the future for hard-working vans on display at Hannover’s Commercial Vehicle Show.

Called the e-Crafter, the electric van packs in a 43kWh litium-ion battery-pack beneath the load floor, taking the place of the regular Crafter’s diesel engine range, and leaving the cargo bay volume untouched, at 11.3 cubic metres and 1700kg.

Though displayed as a concept, the e-Crafter is destined to reach production in early 2017, giving European customers a driving range of 200km, with a fast-charge ability that can top up the battery by 80 percent in around 45 minutes.
