Chevrolet's new SS performance sedan has been given an unveiling at America's iconic Daytona Speedway this week, appearing alongside the new SS NASCAR racer.
GM North America boss Mark Reuss, formerly in the top seat at Holden in Australia and behind the push to return the Commodore to the US market, was joined by US NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon for the unveiling.
"It's about time we show you a car I've been eagerly awaiting to introduce for a very long time, the new production Chevrolet SS," Reuss said at the event.
For Chevrolet, launching the Holden VF Commodore-based SS high-performance sedan marks the brand's return to rear-wheel-drive sedans after a 17-year absence.
Unveiling the SS at Daytona is also a key part of Chevrolet's marketing campaign for the limited-production 'premium sports' sedan, with its track-going twin making its race debut this week.
